Professional Development Sessions for school and industry
Broadening Horizons is excited to Professional Development sessions designed specifically for school and industry.
It’s great to see our program planning come to life this week in East Gippsland. Parks Victoria have come on board as an industry partner, mentoring Year 8 and 9 students from Orbost Community College (OCC). Students are currently exploring the real world challenge of providing a great visitor experience at Cape Conran Coastal Park, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, whilst preserving and maintaining the natural environment.
Partnering with Parks Victoria, the students are exploring the topic of how to improve the visitor experience at Cape Conran, with a sustainability lens. This has involved two field visits to Cape Conran, to learn about the current experiences for visitors to the park, and some of the current challenges faced by Parks Victoria in provide a low impact tourism experience. We’re looking forward to hearing the student’s proposed solutions, as they apply their learning of the design thinking process.
